At any given time during the week, you will find as many as three different groups of volunteers in the House of East 73rd street, at one of our family rooms across NYC, or even working for RMH-NY from their own offices. Each company is volunteering to make a difference in the lives of the families we serve at Ronald McDonald House New York.

Corporate Volunteering has always been a part of the backbone of RMH-NY.

As an organization, we heavily rely on the generous allocation of capital and the generous allocation of time from teams at several top-tier corporations in NYC to help keep our operation in good working order.

The Sometimes-Hidden Value in Group Volunteering

The value collected by an organization like RMH-NY when corporations volunteer their time and money is apparent. Yet, there is overwhelming value to be had by corporations as well. When corporate groups choose to take the step and begin volunteering, supporting important causes in their community, there is a list of positive effects that come along with the selfless and compassionate choice to serve others.

Positive Effects on Corporate Teams Who Volunteer

  • Greater Employee Engagement and Retention
  • Profitability Boost
  • Improve employee skill sets.
  • Boosted recruitment efforts.
  • Stronger ties to the Community your work benefits
  • Happier, purpose-driven employees

Types of Group Volunteering at RMH-NY

There are many ways a corporate team can volunteer and assist at Ronald McDonald House New York. Every single opportunity provides the space for a corporate or community group to participate in activities that, not only benefit the families and children and overall culture at RMH-NY, but also provide the chance to further goals set up for employees within the organizations and companies providing the volunteer services. Here are a few of the ways corporate and community groups can get involved at RMH-NY:

Helping Hands

Join Helping Hands at RMH-NY, where your group can make a direct impact on the well-being of families facing medical crises. The Helping Hands initiative has evolved in recent years to include activities that corporate teams can set up and complete in their own offices. When opting for this avenue of service, RMH-NY will provide a representative from the organization who will come and oversee the service project at the corporate partner’s office. In these scenarios, groups will usually assemble a certain type of care package filled with either a fun activity for the children or an assortment of treats for caregivers or the whole family. The various care packages include:

  • Breakfast Bags
  • Welcome Bags
  • Holiday Bags
  • NICU Care Kits
  • Go Snack Packs
  • Storytime Packet: The Dot
  • Storytime Packet ISH

Day of Service

Make a meaningful difference by participating in a Day of Service at RMH-NY. This initiative offers your group the opportunity to dedicate a day to various impactful projects around the 73rd street House. From beautifying outdoor spaces to organizing recreational activities for families, your Day of Service will contribute to the overall well-being of residents. This flexible program allows your group to tailor activities based on the unique needs of the Ronald McDonald House New York community. Volunteers engage in hands-on tasks that range from lite cleanings to sorting donations, creating a comfortable and supportive environment for families staying at Ronald McDonald House New York. This initiative fosters a sense of community, allowing your group to contribute directly to the comfort and care of those facing challenging times.

Meal Service

Bring warmth and nourishment to RMH-NY families through the Meal Service program. Your group can order and serve meals, providing comfort and support to families facing the challenges of a child’s medical treatment. Engage in meaningful interactions as you share a meal, creating a supportive atmosphere that helps alleviate the stress of each family’s daily hospital visits. This initiative not only fills stomachs but also hearts with the generosity of your group. The meal time is also the best time to provide an activity for families to enjoy, led and organized by your team if you so please!

Special Event Partnership Opportunities

Corporate groups can elevate their group volunteering experience by participating in Special Event Partnership Opportunities at RMH-NY. Collaborate with the Ronald McDonald House New York to organize and support special events that bring joy to the children and caregivers living in the House. To every single group who has so compassionately and effortlessly given their time, money, and manpower to further the mission of RMH-NY and enrich the lives of the children and families we serve who are facing unbelievably challenging moments in their lives… THANK YOU!

We try to say this as much as we possibly can, but we could not provide the level of care and service to our families that we are able to give them if it were not for you. Your generosity has made it possible to extend our reach even further and expand our mission to include so many families right here at home in NYC that need that same care and compassion.

Through our new health equity initiatives, our family rooms, and special projects with hospital partners in all five boroughs, we are reaching more people who need our services now than ever before. That would not have been a possibility without the dedicated corporate and community groups who volunteer their time and money to make it happen.

Thank you for making 2023 so bright for so many!
