Montefiore Family Room

Ronald McDonald House New York Family Room at Montefiore living area

A sanctuary for families during difficult times

The Family Room at Montefiore/Einstein Hospital in the Bronx is designed to provide comfort and support to families with children currently receiving medical care inside the hospital.

Unlike the others, Montefiore’s Family Room offers two levels of access. Families with children in treatment in the units we currently serve can visit during daytime hours, 8 AM to 12 AM. Certain eligible families have access around the clock, 24 hours a day.

Inside, families will find a dedicated nap room, a play space for siblings, a comfortable lounge, television, laundry, a kitchenette stocked with snacks and coffee, and two terraces with outdoor space. It all adds up to a quiet retreat where families can relax and recharge while their child is in treatment. The Family Room serves as a sanctuary during difficult times: a welcoming place to rest, reset, and connect with others who understand exactly what they’re going through.

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are staffed by RMH-NY staff and volunteers who are specially trained to offer a listening ear and support to families during their stay. The room is open to all families with a child being served on the 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th floor of CHAM as well as Rosenthal 4, regardless of their length of stay.

Montefiore’s pediatric oncology division is consistently ranked among the best in the nation. It’s also the first and only program in the New York metro area to bring virtually everything a child with cancer needs under one roof: cutting-edge therapies, early-phase clinical trials, all of it.
