The Hampton Open is a Pickleball Tournament that benefits the Ronald McDonald House New York. Started in 2022, this is an annual event based in Southampton, NY that directly supports families with children going through care.
Pickleball is a sport commonly referred to as a mix of tennis, table tennis, and badminton that uses a paddle. It can be played indoor or outdoor, is played on a smaller court, and can be played by most ages and skill sets. While commonly played as doubles (2 players per team) it can also be played with one player on each team (singles).
Easy to learn with simple rules, Pickleball at CityPickle Wollman Rink is played on a badminton-size court with a net in the center like tennis, a paddle, and wiffle ball. Also like tennis, the ball is hit by each team back and forth over the net.
The smaller pickleball courts, as compared to a tennis court, results in less running around and less effort needed to hit the ball over the net.
