The Ronald McDonald Family Room at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst offers a compassionate haven for families navigating the challenges of having a child in the hospital. Located directly adjacent to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), this Family Room provides parents and caregivers a peaceful place to rest and recharge, just steps away from their child’s bedside.

The Elmhurst Family Room is designed to offer much-needed relief and comfort, featuring amenities like cozy seating areas, snacks and refreshments, entertainment options, and laundry facilities. This welcoming space ensures that families can stay close to their children while taking a moment to relax, reflect, or simply take a breath in a supportive environment.

Building on the success of the Family Room at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, Ronald McDonald House New York (RMH-NY) was proud to expand its reach to the Elmhurst community, extending its mission to support families with critically ill children. The Ronald McDonald Family Room at Elmhurst Hospital was the 2nd addition to our slate of family rooms which strengthens RMH-NY’s commitment to health equity by addressing the holistic needs of families during their child’s medical journey.

We are immensely grateful for our partnership with NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst. Together, we are creating a circle of support that brings comfort, resilience, and hope to families when they need it most. Elmhurst Family Room FAQs

Can I visit the Family Room at Elmhurst Hospital?

The family room is for caregivers, other family members and friends who are visiting a pediatric patient in the NICU, B7 Pediatric Unit or the Inpatient Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit. (Patients themselves are not allowed in the room but may come to see it after they have been discharged.) Children are allowed in the family room with you as long as they have an adult (18 or older) supervising them at all times.
What amenities are available in the Family Room?

The family room is a relaxation and respite space where you can recharge, rest and take some time for yourself before you go back to visit your child’s bedside. We have food & drinks, a washer & dryer, crafts, television, recliner chairs, an Ipad, phone chargers, reading books, activity books, games, puzzles, toys, wellness and personal care products and resources all available for you to use throughout the day for as long as you need. We also have various events and wellness activities throughout the year.
How much does it cost?

There is no charge. Everything we have to offer in the room is complimentary and you never have to pay to use our space. We want to make sure you have all of the resources and energy you need in order to be able to take care of your child.
