How Aunt Marie's Legacy Lives on at Ronald McDonald House New York
August is Make-a-Will Month, a time to reflect on the importance of planning for the future and ensuring that our wishes are honored. It’s a time to consider how we can support our loved ones and the causes that matter most to us. Marie’s story is a powerful reminder of the impact that a well-planned will can have, both on our families and our communities.
At NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where every beep from a machine holds weight, and each medical update tugs at the heartstrings of worried parents, one new mother, Natalie found herself navigating an emotional whirlwind. Her son, Marcellus, had been born prematurely and was fighting for his life. Caught in a storm of uncertainty and hope, Natalie discovered an unexpected sanctuary that would become her refuge—the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Elmhurst.
If you’ve never seen a bouncy house castle rating system in action, you’re truly missing out. Oliver, our intrepid reporter, took his first assignment at the Block Party very seriously. He and Octavio hopped into the bouncy house, and after some impressive mid-air somersaults (he’s had practice), Oliver awarded it a 9.9 out of 10. Why not a perfect score? He didn’t say. Maybe bouncy houses, like life, always leave a little room for improvement. Read It all here...
Emanuel and his family’s journey through pediatric cancer brought them face to face with unimaginable challenges including financial fears, family separation, and a cancer plaguing a seven-year-old boy that just seemed to keep growing. Like many other families navigating similar crises, they discovered that the support they needed extended far beyond medical care.

Last week our families enjoyed a special surprise when actor@imsebastianstanand celebrity trainer@donsaladinojoined us for a fun-filled afternoon on our terrace. Adding our own healthy twist on an ice cream sundae party, the kids made frozen acai bowls and Don and Sebastian happily jumped in to help serve all the delicious toppings! Everyone had a wonderful time and we’re so grateful to Don and Sebastian for their continued love and support of the House and our families. 🤍
Thank you to MDC Productions for organizing the event and to Lisa Staryak Photography for the beautiful photos of our families.#keepingfamiliesclose

Meet Emanuel. Emanuel’s journey has been one of immense courage. After being diagnosed with osteosarcoma, he initially fought hard with chemotherapy and a successful bone marrow transplant. Sadly, the cancer returned, now affecting his muscles, soft tissues, and lungs.
Determined to find the best treatment, his family sought alternatives far from home, leading them to Ronald McDonald House New York and Weill Cornell Medicine. Facing amputation as a necessary step in his fight, Emanuel and his family prepared with resilience, celebrating his strength and determination.
On May 30, 2024, Emanuel underwent surgery, and just a week later, he was smiling again and motivated to conquer his battle against cancer. His story is a powerful reminder of hope and the support that makes a difference.
Help us raise awareness this Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by sharing Emanuel’s story
This September, we’re shining a spotlight on a brave superhero kid, Dimitris, and his incredible journey through childhood cancer.
Dimitris’s story is a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of kids. Despite the challenges of childhood cancer, Dimitris has shown immense courage and determination. His journey isn’t faced alone; the support of his loving family and the community around him plays a vital role in his fight.
At Ronald McDonald House New York, traditions like “Fight Cancer with Family” help families like Dimitris’s stay close and supported during these tough times. This moto underscores the importance of family and community in the battle against childhood cancer. 🏠💕
Join us in honoring Dimitris and all the brave kids battling cancer by spreading awareness and supporting organizations that provide critical support to families in need. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to those who need it most.
