We’re thrilled to announce the return of our Great Days programs at Ronald McDonald House New York, offering families a much-needed break from hospital life. These outings provide children and their families the chance to create joyful, lasting memories in New York City.

Recently, families explored the NYC Science Playground, where they enjoyed hands-on exhibits designed to spark curiosity and imagination. They spent a relaxing day at Hudson River Park, taking in scenic views and enjoying nature, followed by a fun round of mini golf that brought smiles to everyone.

A special highlight was a visit to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, made possible by their generous support. Families received free entrance and had dedicated tour guides, allowing them to discover vast collections and iconic art pieces, creating an unforgettable experience.

The Great Days programs aim to enhance the well-being of families by offering a break from medical routines. These outings help strengthen family bonds, create positive memories, and provide emotional support during challenging times. We look forward to an exciting summer filled with more incredible experiences for our families!

Our seventh-floor terrace has been transformed into a sanctuary through the Caregiver Community Garden Initiative. Led by Kenia, a dedicated social worker with a deep passion for gardening, this project brings therapeutic benefits and a sense of community to the families staying at RMH-NY.

The initiative began with caregivers planting seeds and has grown into a flourishing garden that addresses food accessibility challenges faced by international families. By involving caregivers in choosing what to plant, the garden reflects diverse culinary traditions, like a Guyanese caregiver’s plan to make curry squash.

Beyond providing fresh produce, the garden offers caregivers a peaceful escape from their daily stresses. It’s a place where families connect through shared experiences, transcending language barriers. Kenia’s role as an international social worker ensures that everyone feels included, making the garden a universal language of love and healing.

The Caregiver Community Garden is a testament to the power of community and the profound impact of small initiatives. It provides families with a place to heal, connect, and grow. With your support, we can continue to cultivate hope and resilience for families in need.

This year’s 4th of July celebration marked the return of a cherished tradition showcasing the power of community and compassion. The festivities kicked off with vibrant red, white, and blue decorations throughout the House, creating a joyful atmosphere that thrilled children and their families. Our friends from the Yonkers Fire Department cooked up a delightful barbecue on our outdoor terrace along side the NYPD. NYPD then escorted the families across town with NYPD motorcycles leading the way where the families indulged on dessert and had the ultimate private viewing thanks to the incredible donation from our friends at Chelsea Piers, Pier Sixty Collection, Current. It was a seamless and unforgettable evening. This collaboration among community partners, volunteers, and staff embodies the love, joy, and care that define our House.
