Ronald McDonald House New York’s Greek Division provides support services for families from Greece and Cyprus, as well as for Greek-Americans staying in New York City while battling cancer.
In existence for more than 30 years, the Greek Division has helped to provide a support system for families from Greece and Cyprus seeking treatment for pediatric cancer while in New York City. The support of the local Greek community within the tri-state area has been an integral part of the Division’s ability to provide the financial resources, as well as awareness of the devastating effects of cancer.
In May 2014, Michael Bapis, partner and managing director of the Bapis Group at HighTower, was named as chairman of the Greek Division. As Chairman, Mr. Bapis has begun the formation of an executive committee that will provide the Greek Division with new strategic goals in the fulfillment of its mission.
Local members of the Greek community help to support the organization via the annual “Walk of Love” walk-a-thon, held in May. The Greek Division also holds its annual Christmas party in December at the New York Athletic Club.
