This Independence Day, Ronald McDonald House New York didn’t just mark the holiday—we ignited the spirit of celebration early with an unforgettable kickoff, led by none other than our inspiring Chief Development Officer, Richard “Rick” Martin.
On the morning of July 3rd, Rick lit up the airwaves live on NYSE TV, energizing audiences as he shared the incredible lineup of July 4th festivities awaiting our families. From music and meals to parades and partnership-driven events, it was a weekend designed to bring joy, community, and lasting memories to the heart of the House.
Rick proudly spotlighted our enduring partnerships with the Yonkers Fire Department and the New York Police Department—stalwart supporters whose dedication over the years has brought strength and spirit to our mission. The day’s events were steered by retired NYPD legend Jimmy Murtagh, who brought boundless heart and heroic leadership to the celebration. Thanks to his passion and coordination, it truly was a day to remember.
But the celebrations didn’t stop there. Rick also took a moment to honor the unsung heroes of our vital transportation program—our corporate and individual donors. With their generous support, RMH-NY provided an astonishing 17,325 rides in 2024 alone, ensuring that families could safely and reliably travel between the House and the hospitals where their children receive life-saving care.
These rides are more than just miles—they’re moments of relief, comfort, and connection for families navigating incredibly difficult journeys. And it’s all made possible by the kindness and commitment of those who believe in our mission.
To Rick: thank you for being a champion of this House and an ambassador of hope. Your energy, voice, and vision carry our message far and wide—and we are so grateful.
And to NYSE TV, thank you for your generous partnership this summer. We look forward to seeing you at our 33rd Annual Gala this September, where we’ll honor our outstanding supporters—including Lynn Martin, President of the New York Stock Exchange—for their unwavering dedication to the House.
Here’s to a July 4th filled with fireworks, family, and the power of community.
