Hoppy Spring on NY1
FOX5 News Coverage
On March 19, Ronald McDonald House New York welcomed families, supporters, and special guests for our annual Hoppy Spring celebration—a beloved tradition that brings a moment of joy to children in treatment who are unable to experience the season outside the House.
Despite a chilly evening, the spirit inside the House was anything but cold. Thanks to our incredible partners at FDNY Engine 44 and NYPD 19th Precinct , the Spring Bunny made a grand arrival aboard a firetruck before being lifted high above the crowd, waving down to the children gathered below—many of whom watched with wonder from windows and safe vantage points throughout the House.

We are deeply grateful to FDNY Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore and First Deputy Commissioner Daniel Flynn for joining us and showing up in such a meaningful way for our families. Their presence—and the dedication of the firefighters and officers who made the night possible—helped transform an ordinary evening into something unforgettable.

This year’s celebration was proudly featured by NY1’s Last Call and highlighted during the nightly news on FOX5, helping share the magic of Hoppy Spring with the wider New York community.
Moments like these remind us that even in the midst of treatment, childhood joy still finds a way—especially when a community comes together to lift it up.
