Celebrating Go Gold Day and the Families of Children with Pediatric Cancer
Ronald McDonald House New York (RMH-NY) President and CEO Dr. Ruth C. Browne joined the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) floor to ring the closing bell and highlight the extraordinary work of RMH-NY supporting families of children with pediatric cancer. The appearance was featured on Taking Stock, a broadcast dedicated to financial markets and corporate impact.
During the interview, Dr. Browne shared the significance of Go Gold Day, held every fourth Friday of September as part of National Cancer Awareness Month. The day honors the courage and resilience of children battling cancer while highlighting the ongoing need for philanthropic support to fund clinical trials and comprehensive family-centered services.
“It’s an amazing opportunity for Ronald McDonald House to ring the closing bell. We celebrate when the kids who are battling cancer get to ring a bell and say, ‘I’m cancer free. I finished my treatment,’” said Dr. Browne.
The interview also spotlighted RMH-NY’s upcoming annual gala, where the organization will honor Lynn Martin for her leadership in women’s health and wellness, alongside corporate partners from MasterCard, Axis, and pioneers in pediatric cancer research like Dr. Richard O’Reilly from Memorial Sloan Kettering.
Dr. Browne emphasized the critical role of RMH-NY in supporting families through both social and medical needs, ensuring that children have access to life-saving treatments while parents can focus on being present for their child’s care.
“Our families have often faced multiple challenges before arriving at RMH-NY,” Dr. Browne noted. “Providing housing, emotional support, and holistic care ensures that children can receive the treatment they need and families can remain together during this critical time.”
This NYSE moment underscores the alignment between community, corporate partners, and RMH-NY’s mission to provide compassionate care, family-centered support, and advocate for health equity for pediatric patients.
