Kids fighting cancer come to New York City to take on tough, often painful battles. But thanks to you, they take home happy memories. Time and again, children tell us that what they remember most is being with their family and having fun in our playroom.
As you can imagine, we’ve closed the doors to our beloved playroom to prevent the spread of COVID-19. But don’t worry — you didn’t just keep the good times going. You made our program BIGGER and BETTER than ever!
Thanks to donors like you, we could transform our playroom into a “Play Factory” — a fulfillment center of fun. Now we deliver play and positive experiences to kids and families in the House and beyond. Each week, families receive a package of hand-picked toys, games, craft supplies, and everything they need to enjoy activities together.
Families also enjoy a full schedule of virtual experiences, ranging from online martial arts classes to slime-making workshops and more. Kids can even follow along with their own slime-making kits, learning the science behind slime while experiencing hands-on fun.
To make sure no one misses out, we take special care to deliver custom care packages to tweens, teens, and older residents, too. But you didn’t stop there.
With your support, we expanded beyond the walls of our playroom — and our House — to deliver play-focused programs to kids fighting cancer in hospitals and in our community!
Your donations are behind it all. As Ben Winsten, Programs Manager, says, “You’re not just helping a child take their mind off cancer for a few minutes. You’re giving them a sense of normalcy and possibility that otherwise wouldn’t be there in really dark times.”
Families fighting cancer deserve all the happiness we can give them. Thank you for providing the priceless gift of play.
