Happy Wheels Coffee Cart

In January 2015, Ronald McDonald House New York officially rolled out the Happy Wheels coffee cart program. Healthy treats, refreshments, and personal care items are available to hospital patients and their families at no cost. The Happy Wheels coffee cart serves up smiles each weekday afternoon. Our first Happy Wheels cart began service at the Hospital for Special Surgery, while several others are set to roll out at future partner hospitals.

About the Program

When a parent has a child in the hospital, the only topic on their mind is their child’s health. Our Happy Wheels Coffee Cart volunteers offer coffee, healthy snacks and other drinks to parents with children staying at the hospital. In addition, we offer small comforts such as books, toiletries and other comfort items to ease the stress of the parents without them ever leaving their child.

Volunteers Needed!

Individual volunteers will be a familiar face and a wide smile for parents who are at their child’s bedside. While on the pediatric floor of the hospital, volunteers will help reduce the stress of a hospital stay for families going through a difficult time.  The Happy Wheels Coffee Cart program currently takes place at the Hospital for Special Surgery Monday through Friday 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
