How to Help Financially at Ronald McDonald House of New York, Inc.
As you consider making philanthropic donations in what will surely be a difficult year, we hope you'll remember that for a child with cancer, every day is fraught with uncertainty. Services that are provided to our residents cannot be interrupted based upon a bad economy. The harsh reality is that if we fail, a child may not have the opportunity to receive cancer treatment that is only available in New York City simply because his or her parents could not afford alternative accommodations.
It costs Ronald McDonald House of New York $270 to house each family, each night (approximately $23,000 per day). Because we know that cancer can be financially as well as emotionally devastating, Ronald McDonald House of New York, Inc. asks each family to pay a nominal fee of $35 per night and can accommodate 84 families at once. Families stay from just a few days or weeks to months at a time, and, in some cases, as long as a year or more.
Our goal is to help families stay together during a time of crisis. We strive to create an environment where a feeling of Hope will flourish. As greater numbers of children survive childhood cancers, Ronald McDonald House of New York, Inc. is acknowledged by professionals as a critically important adjunct to medical treatment. This is why we need your support.
